According to the Virginia State Police today, Trooper G. Lee is investigating a two-vehicle crash in Buckingham County that resulted in the death of a 16-year-old Buckingham County male.

The crash occurred at 3:28 a.m. Aug. 11 on Route 15 at the intersection of Route 672.

According to police, a 2007 Chevrolet Uplander was traveling west on Route 671 when it crossed into the intersection with Route 15. The Chevrolet collided with a 2014 Ford Escape that was traveling north on Route 15. The impact of the crash caused the Uplander to run off the left side of the intersection, strike an embankment, a tree and then a building.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Charles V. Elliott, 52, of New Canton, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He was wearing a seat belt. His passenger was the 16-year-old, who was partially ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. 

The driver of the Ford, Crystal W. Jamerson, 42, of Buckingham, was not injured in the crash. She was wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation, and charges are pending.
