UPDATE: Two injured in Redfields Road accident

At approximately 2:30 p.m. today, a one-vehicle crash occurred on the 1300-block of Redfields Road in Appomattox. 

According to Virginia State Police, the vehicle was traveling north on Redfields Road when it veered off the right and crashed into a tree.

Two individuals sustained serious injuries, according to the trooper. The driver of the vehicle was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital. The passenger was flown by emergency helicopter to UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville. 

No other people were in the vehicle at the time of the accident. 

The vehicle sustained heavy damage. 

Also at the scene was Appomattox Volunteer Fire Department Engine 3 and Crash 9, two Delta Response Team ambulances, the Appomattox County Sheriff's Office and Litchford's Garage and Towing of Concord.
