COVID-19 appears to have taken a toll on various public activities and events, and the 2020 Appomattox Historic Railroad Festival is no exception.
With a heavy heart, the Railroad Festival board elected to cancel the event, Festival Committee President Paul Harvey said.
But all hope is not lost — Harvey said his team is looking forward to what’s in store for the festival in 2021.
“There is an expected resurgence (of COVID-19),” Harvey said. “We feel like we need to be considerate of people’s health and safety — the vendors, the attendees, the staff, concessioners — all those people involved.”
Harvey said he believes vendors may share similar concerns, as this year they’ve only received about 14 vendor applications.
