When the final tally was recorded, the Appomattox Moose Lodge 975’s recent charitable fundraiser to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital turned out to be a success that far exceeded the predetermined financial donation goal of $2,000 for the Sept. 21 event that ran from 2 p.m. to midnight.
According to Micheal Barlow, the administrator for Lodge 975, the charitable fundraising event, which just happened to be the first one of its kind for the lodge, raised $4,134 (and change) for donation to the world-renown pediatric disease research center and hospital founded by American entertainer Danny Thomas.
The hospital was founded in 1962 with the mission to research and find cures for catastrophic childhood diseases and to also provide medical care to any and every child without concern for a bill.
Lodge 975 has a long list of charitable donations that it makes not only to its own, but neighbor communities as well
