Kia Scott, an Appomattox County High School graduate, has returned to serve the people of the county as the new Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney.
Scott replaces Les Fleet, who held the position until he was sworn in May 31 as the county’s acting Commonwealth’s Attorney. Fleet succeeds Darrell Puckett, who was sworn in May 30 as General District Court judge for the 10th Judicial District.
The position of Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney is a supervisory role, second in rank in the Commonwealth’s Attorney office. Scott will handle criminal cases as assigned by Fleet.
