Delinquent utility payments were part of Pamplin City Town Council discussions Tuesday, Sept. 8.

On the town’s books, there is $5,000 total in delinquent payments. The question was one of whether or not to resume the normal procedures in dealing with delinquent accounts.

Libby Mitchel shared that Lynchburg was still not shutting off delinquent accounts — they were going to but then reversed that decision, she shared. Appomattox also is not shutting off delinquent accounts but instead sending out shut-off notices to encourage payments.

“It’s a real hard call to make,” said Mitchel noting that other localities are struggling with the same situation.
