After purchasing some property where a home had been destroyed by fire, the parishioners of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Appomattox — a church that would describe itself as big on community outreach — knew that the property was meant for something good, but what?
The idea for using the plot of land as a community garden was planted and, finally, this year the idea took root and flourished into reality.
“It sat empty, and some of us who were gardeners thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be great to have a community garden around here?’” shared Gloria Weaver, who was among those who brainstormed and brought the garden idea to fruition.
