Spout Spring accident results in minor injuries

Shortly before 9 p.m., a single-car accident occurred at the intersection of U.S 460 East and Spout Spring Road in Appomattox County. The accident reportedly resulted in minor injuries to the passenger.

According to Appomattox County Fire Chief Jonathan Garrett and a Virginia State Trooper at the scene, a silver four-door Toyota Corolla S was traveling east on U.S. 460 when the driver misjudged the road and veered off to the right. The vehicle spun onto Spout Spring Road and flipped over into a grassy area, landing upright.

Debris was scattered all over the road at the accident location, and both the front and rear bumpers were torn off the vehicle.

The injured passenger was identified as Christen O'Bryant, age unknown at the time of this report (but not a minor), of Farmville. She was transported by an Appomattox Volunteer Rescue Squad ambulance to Lynchburg General Hospital for treatment. There was no word on the types of minor injuries she sustained. Garrett said O'Bryant was alert.

The driver was identified as Casey Hart, 22-year-old female, of Farmville. Hart was uninjured but was charged with failure to stay right of center.

Garrett said both individuals appeared to be wearing seat belts.

Also at the scene were a Delta Response Team ambulance, members of the Appomattox Volunteer Fire Department, and an Appomattox County Sheriff's Office deputy.
