Sergeant Karen Nipper, on behalf of the Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office, presented Sheriff Barry Letterman with a special plaque at the fifth annual Sheriff’s Night Out on Thursday at Appomattox County High School to honor his work among the youth of the county.

Retiring Appomattox County Sheriff Barry Letterman was honored with a plaque at the fifth annual Sheriff’s Night Out from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Appomattox County High School.

Because it was Letterman’s last Sheriff’s Night Out as the sheriff, Sgt. Karen Nipper, on behalf of the sheriff’s office, presented the plaque to honor “his dedication and commitment to the youth of Appomattox County.”

“Any time it comes to the kids, he’s always been willing to help,” said Nipper.

The crowd applauded and cheered the sheriff and his accomplishments in serving families in the county.
