Early morning crash kills one in Appomattox County


The Virginia State Police identified Martha Giles, 43, of Lynchburg, as the person who died at the scene of a two-vehicle accident Monday at the 7700 block of Redhouse Road (Route 727).

She was not wearing a seatbelt.

According to police, a 1998 Toyota Camry driven by Giles crossed the center yellow line and collided with a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado traveling in the opposite direction.


Virginia State Police Trooper M. A. Wilkinson is investigating a two vehicle crash in Appomattox County. The crash occurred at 1:50 a.m. this morning in the 7700 block of Redhouse Road (Route 727).

There is one confirmed fatality.

The crash remains under investigation.
