With her upcoming retirement, Appomattox County Treasurer Alice Gillette found herself reminiscing about her long but rewarding career. Turning 70 this year, she figured it might be time to retire.

“I’m looking forward to it,” said Gillette. “It was a hard decision to have to make. I’ve been working all my life, really.”
