In Central Virginia, Lynchburg native Desmond Rice is best known as a former Liberty University running back who compiled 2,195 rushing and receiving yards and 30 total touchdowns in his football career with the Flames.
In Appomattox, Rice is no longer dodging would-be tacklers. Since July 1, he has been working at the Appomattox County Courthouse as a part-time legal assistant while pursuing a law degree at the Liberty University School of Law.
Getting involved in the legal profession is a dream Rice had in the back of his mind since childhood but was almost put out of his mind when he entered college.
