Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) continues its work to purchase the last portion of land for the High Bridge Trail State Park’s extension into Pamplin.

The property is 30 acres consisting of one mile of abandoned Norfolk Southern railway that extends from Heights School Road to downtown Pamplin, plus space for a parking lot. The trail will end at the Pamplin train depot.

Daniel Jordan, park manager of High Bridge Trail State Park, said the process is moving along smoothly. There is no timetable to complete the sale, but Jordan speculates that it may run into 2020.
