The Town of Appomattox held a community meeting Thursday at the Visitor Information Center at the train depot on Main Street to discuss the pros and cons of having a second welcome center for tourism in Appomattox.

The meeting itself was facilitated by Katie Conner, representing the Virginian Tourism Corporation. Rusty Nix, from the Virginia WWI and WWII Commemoration Commission, was also present to assist and provide insight.

Mayor Paul Harvey introduced Conner and Hicks to the roomful of concerned citizens — about 40 people —  stating that he hoped the meeting would offer more information and clarity regarding the concept of having another center.
