In last week’s column I opened up a discussion regarding a proposal to the Town Council to create a welcome center at the American Civil War Museum (ACWM). At Monday night’s Town Council meeting, there was a lot of opposition, some of which was based on incorrect or incomplete information. The decision on the proposal has been tabled until more research can be completed and a public hearing held to air more complete information.
I am personally in favor of the addition of a Welcome Center at the ACWM. I believe that it is a minimum investment that will pay off for everyone in our community. I will, however, await the availability of more information and the remainder of the decision process to run its course before commenting further.
