What do you do when it is hot in Virginia? Why, head to Georgia for the Southern Regional 4-H Championship Horse Show! Appomattox 4-H Horse and Pony Club members did just that, and came away with ribbons and lots of great memories.

Southern Regional 4-H Championship Horse Show took place at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter in Perry, Georgia. Virginia was allowed only 70 Horse/Rider combinations, and there were educational contests as well. Participants must have showed previously at the Virginia State 4-H Horse Show. Those applicants must be approved by their Extension Agent and the State 4-H Horse Staff. So just getting to go is a big deal, actually placing, that shows hard work and grit!

The two Appomattox 4-H Horse and Pony Club riders who competed are:

Adam Foisy, who placed:

1st in Gaited Mare Model

3rd in Gaited Equitation

4th in Gaited Pleasure

7th in Gaited Showmanship

4th Overall Walking Horse

3rd Overall Gaited High Point

Taylor Prince, who placed:

3rd in Gaited Pleasure

7th in Gaited Mare Model

10th in Gaited Showmanship

11th in Gaited Equitation

9th Overall Gaited High Point

Success in any venture is a team effort. But, the above placings show the dedication these youth possess to excel in this sport, and represented our county well at this prestigious event.

Wish them well as they prepare for the Virginia State 4-H Horse Show, which is next month.
