For the second consecutive year, the Appomattox County High School competition cheerleading team has been crowned as queens of the VHSL Region 2C Championship.
The Raider girls will advance to the VHSL State Championships which take place on Nov. 9 in Richmond.
Appomattox took first place on the judges' scorecards Wednesday night, winning over Glenvar and Radford after two rounds of traditional cheer and contemporary dance routines.
The event took place at the Appomattox County High School gymnasium before an enthusiastic crowd with fans of all three schools showing their support.
The Nov. 6 edition of the Times Virginian will feature competition photographs, plus interviews with Raiders head coach Tammy Moore and two senior cheerleaders.
