Appomattox golf on winning streak

After a slow start to the 2019 season, the Appomattox Raiders golf team is on a roll, having won their last three matches.

The Raiders won at Dan River on Aug. 27, the results of which were published in the Sept. 4 edition of the Times Virginian.

Ever since the Dan River win, the Raiders hosted Gretna and Nelson County on Sept. 3 at the Falling River Country Club and came away with a 171-199 victory over second place Gretna. Nelson County finished third with a score of 223.

Appomattox turned right around and won two days later, Sept. 5, over William Campbell and Nelson County at the Winton Country Club, a match hosted by Nelson County.

Appomattox finished on top of the scoring at 172, followed by William Campbell at 187 and Nelson County at 225.

On Tuesday, the Raiders traveled to Hat Creek for a match against William Campbell. Results will be published in the Sept. 18 edition of the Times Virginian.

On Thursday, the Raiders travel to Cedars Country Club for a 4:30 p.m. match with Chatham and Gretna.
