The Appomattox Raiders girls indoor track team won back-to-back VHSL Region 2C championships with a victory Friday evening in Roanoke.
According to coach Tim Crossin, because of a scoring glitch the Raiders left town without knowing if they would receive any awards. The Raiders coaching staff was not informed of the total score until 1:30 a.m. when all the athletes coaches were at home.
Appomattox finished with 94 points, followed by Auburn with 87.
Some of the outstanding performances were delivered by shot put champ Mckalya Wiley, high jump champ April Morgan, and the 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams.
