Braden Drinkard of Appomattox fights through Brookville traffic

In the season opener Wednesday for the Appomattox Raiders boys basketball team, they defeated the Brookville Bees at home by a score of 56-45. 

Four Raiders scored in double digits in a balanced offensive attack. Tevin Hurt led with 15 points, followed by Casey Scruggs with 14, Luke Olimpio with 12 and Tyler Gilliam with 10. 

Appomattox was up by as many as 13 points late in the third period but Brookville went on an 8-point run to cut the Raiders lead to 43-38 early in the fourth period. 

The Raiders (1-0) host Dan River (3-2) on Friday night. Junior varsity begins play at 5:30, followed by Varsity.
