The final score of a sporting event doesn’t always reflect the level of dominance that one team held over another.
Such was the case Thursday at Appomattox County High School when the Raiders varsity girls soccer team (2-1-2) defeated Glenvar by a 2-0 final.
Two goals may not sound like much, and truthfully speaking, the margin of victory could have been much higher. But the Raiders kept the Highlanders on their heels pretty much the entire game by applying constant pressure in their half of the field.
The only factors that kept the score from being, just say, 3-0 or 10-0, were the ability of Glenvar defenders to stack the goalie box, and a handful of Raider shots that simply missed the mark.
Taylor Fulcher and Lauryn Foster provided the only two scores of the game in the first half.
