Raiders golf takes Dogwood throne; awaits Monday's regional playoff

The Appomattox Raiders golf team wrapped up its regular season undefeated in 2019 Dogwood District play (12-0) to win the district championship. 

On Tuesday at Falling River Country Club, the Raiders earned the top team score (175), besting William Campbell (182), Dan River (184) and Altavista (208) to secure the unbeaten district mark. 

Jadon Tweedy was the Raiders' ace with an individual score of 40 on a par 36 course. 

Appomattox now awaits a trip Monday to Hot Springs to play The Old Course at The Homestead for the VHSL Region 2C Golf Tournament. 

Raiders Coach Doug Marshall said that the top two teams will advance to the VHSL State 2A Golf Tournament on Oct. 14 at The River Course in Blacksburg.
