Lady Raiders soccer opening up the flood gates

At the mid-point of the 2019 season, the Appomattox Raiders girls varsity soccer team opened the flood gates on offense with an 8-0 win over the Dan River Wildcats on April 17.

Abby Ranson led the Appomattox offense with three goals, including two in the first half, which helped the Raiders hold a 5-0 halftime lead. She also added two assists. Taylor Fulcher added two goals of her own in the first half.

Picking up where they left off, the Appomattox Raiders continued their scoring offensive by putting up seven goals in a 7-0 shutout win Monday night over Halifax.

In the last three games, Appomattox has outscored their opponents 23-0. The Raiders defense has not given up a goal since March 19 in a 4-3 loss at James River, a span that covers six consecutive wins.

Appomattox (6-1-2) will play Nelson County at 7 p.m. Monday, April 29, at Bragg Stadium. Their game today at Nelson County has been postponed with no date set as of now.
