Appomattox boys soccer hoping to build off first win

The late singer Tom Petty once sang the lyrics, “The waiting is the hardest part …”

After opening the 2019 schedule with five losses, the Appomattox Raiders boys varsity soccer team earned its first win April 15 with a 3-2 win at Chatham.

“It’s always nice to get that first one. Getting that first win is always great, and it’s always great for the guys,” coach Mark Bowman said.

The Raiders hope to gain momentum from their first win, but that momentum was at least temporarily put on ice as the Dan River Wildcats entered Appomattox’s Bragg Stadium and exited with a 3-2 win April 18.

The Raiders host Nelson County tonight at 7 p.m.
