Appomattox senior Alie Carrico (#11, dark blue) makes a play in the Class 2C Region semifinal

The 2018 Appomattox Raiders volleyball team set a school record by being the first to finish the regular season with a perfect record at 19-0.

The dream season came to an end, however, in the VHSL Region 2C semifinals as they lost to Giles in three sets (25-9, 25-17, 25-13).

The Raiders never really posed a serious threat to Giles, which managed to quickly thwart any momentum Appomattox gained.

Appomattox finished the year with a 21-2 record and equaled the 2017 school volleyball record of advancing to the region semifinals.

Six seniors will be lost to the 2019 squad, but the future looks bright with good, young talent that had valuable experience this season, plus more that will earn playing time next year.
