Dog Days are here! Raiders summer football training camp underway

Heat and humidity define the Dog Days of August in Virginia. In Appomattox, August also means that high school football season is on its way.

The Appomattox Raiders varsity and junior varsity teams began summer training camp Monday afternoon. Plenty of water breaks are in store as the temperature hovers close to the 90 degree mark.

Aug. 23, 7 p.m. at LCA in Lynchburg (annual Benefit Game).

The regular season kicks off Aug. 30, 7 p.m. at Buckingham.

Junior varsity also plays two scrimmages:

Aug. 16, 6:30 p.m. at Liberty High School in Bedford (annual Liberty Jamboree).

Aug. 22, 6 p.m. at LCA in Lynchburg.

The regular season begins Aug. 29, 6 p.m. vs. Buckingham, at Appomattox County High School.
