Appomattox blanks Glenvar, advances to Region 2C championship

Friday night's VHSL Region 2C semifinal football game in Appomattox saw the Raiders defeat Glenvar in a 21-0 shutout.  

Gathering all their points in the first half, the Raiders scored on two touchdown runs by quarterback Tre Lawing, and one by running back Cristian Ferguson. Placekicker Samuele Bianco tacked on all three extra points.  

The win sends the Raiders to the Region 2C championship game to be played Friday, Nov. 29, at Appomattox County High School. 

The Gretna Hawks will come into town to battle the Raiders for regional supremacy after knocking off Radford on the road Friday by a score of 48-20. 

In October, Appomattox defeated Gretna on their home field 21-7. 

Gretna was ranked number three in the Region 2C bracket, while Appomattox sits in the number one spot.
