On Monday, Feb. 8, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., in the comfort of home, join Rod Stanley of the ACWM as he presents the history of Farmville’s Free Black Israel Hill Community. Learn the complete story behind the historical marker on 3rd Street, Farmville. That community made news in Chicago and New York in the 1850s. More recently, an individual who grew up in the shadow of Israel Hill made news, for she will soon represent the Commonwealth of Virginia along with George Washington in the Capitol’s National Statuary Hall. Preregistration is required for this free event. Register at acwm.org/events.
