The American Civil War Museum in Appomattox held its third annual Fall Festival on Saturday with a large crowd in attendance, as indicated by a packed parking lot throughout the day, and provided attendees with a wide variety of familiar and new attractions.
Returning to the Fall Festival were the likes of various food and craft vendors, open hearth cooking in the log cabin, pumpkin painting for children, live music, a display of Civil War era medical supplies and treatments, cannon firing, vintage 19th century clothing, Osborne Express train rides, and more.
New to this year’s festival were additional vendors, along with other history-based organizations that participated in the event, such as Patrick Henry’s Red Hill, Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest, and the Carver-Price Legacy Museum.
Jeniffer Maloney, marketing director for the Appomattox Civil War Museum (ACWM) organization, named those groups and added that ACWM is grateful to work alongside them in the joint support and promotion of history.
“That is the biggest difference this year, and we’re so happy to start working together as a community on these events because everybody’s doing things for the community in the community,” she said. “So, it just makes sense if we’re promoting each other’s sites anyway, to go and be part of that.”
