Joetricia Humbles appeared before the Appomattox Town Council on Sept. 14 to speak on behalf of Appomattox for Equality.
The local group formed shortly after the Black Lives Matter protest that was held in June. Appomattox for Equality hosted the local Juneteenth celebration that featured Democrat candidate for the 5th District seat, Dr. Cameron Webb, and local speakers such as historian and minister Rev. Alfred Jones and author Ken Woodley.
“Thank you for allowing me this time to speak,” said Humbles. “I’m here on behalf of Appomattox for Equality to give clarification and explanation for our organization. Our organization is a non-profit and our purpose is to bridge the gap in our community through education, socialization and communication. We work to repair social injustices and racial inequalities.”
