Town Council proclaims Sept. 16 as American Legion Day in Appomattox

On Monday, Appomattox Town Council honored American Legion Post 104 with a proclamation declaring Monday, Sept. 16 as “American Legion Day in Appomattox.”

Before announcing the proclamation, Appomattox Mayor Richard Conner asked council members and all in attendance to observe a moment of silence in remembrance of the 2,977 individuals who lost their lives as victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

American Legion Post 104 Appomattox Commander Buddy Allen and First Vice Commander Gloria Krauklis were present to receive the proclamation.
