The Pamplin Area Legacy Supporters (PALS) and the Town of Pamplin City announced the winners of their LOVEWorks sign Saturday, May 8, in front of the town hall. Cousins and Pamplin natives Julie Hamlett Poole and Sarah Hamlett Blackwell created the design that will be constructed into a LOVE sign.

“It was a joint project. We both have different strengths. She (Julie) did more of the design, and I’m more into building it,” Blackwell explained.

Poole created the first draft of the sign, and when her cousin (who is also mayor of Pamplin) saw it, she saw something that she would like to work with in terms of the construction of the sign. They joined forces and made some modifications to the plans before resubmitting a final draft. Since she had originally been tasked to serve on committee and help judge the entries, Blackwell recused herself from the judging.
