A public hearing on the July 2022 to June 2023 Town of Pamplin City budget was held at the June 14 town council meeting.
Mayor Sarah Hamlett Blackwell said this budget will potentially be implemented halfway through the fiscal year.
Ordinary income/expense income involves taxes, the highest of which is real estate tax of $29,439.41. The following comes from the budget.
Personal property tax: $14,109.09; Appomattox County sales tax: $13,200; Prince Edward County sales tax: $6,600; corporate supplemental tax: $6,383.17; interest on taxes: $2,000; and penalties on taxes: $600. Total taxes: $72,331.67.
Utility billings include sewer and water billings of $31,248 and $39,474.56, respectively, for a total of $70,722.56.
Other income, including business licenses, depot rental, restitution payments, donations (aid to localities fire programs funds) and miscellaneous income amounts to $38,987.74 for a total income or gross profit of $182,041.97.
On the expense side, for payroll, including processing fees, payroll expenses, taxes, etc., the amount is estimated to be $43,291.82. Other expenses, including utilities, equipment maintenance and water system expenses are estimated at $4,330.32; sewer system expenses amounted to an estimate of $18,712.19; and fire programs, facilities maintenance, insurance, police and fire department supplements, bank charges, maintenance supplies, telephone, internet, and loan payments to United States Department of Agriculture all come to an estimated total of $161,952.23.
