The Central Virginia Governor’s School for Science and Technology, in Lynchburg, held its Senior Recognition Day on Sunday. Four students from Appomattox County were included in the ceremony.

Brooke Coleman, the daughter of James and Monica Coleman of Prospect, will be attending North Carolina State University with a major of Life Sciences First Year: Biological Sciences-Human Biology Intent.

Chandler O’Rourke, the son of Jeff O’Rourke and Kelly Hakes of Appomattox, will be attending Virginia Tech for General Engineering.

Avery Roark, the daughter of Johnnie and Tina Roark of Appomattox, will be attending Liberty University with a major in Biomedical Sciences.

Jacob Williams, the son of Adam and Krista Williams of Appomattox, will be attending Virginia Tech with an undecided major.

Awards received by Appomattox students were the following:

• Brooke Coleman: CVGS Foundation Scholarship.

• Avery Roark: CVGS Foundation Scholarship, Brandy Nichols Leadership Award, and All A’s All-Star Award.

• Jacob Williams: Alumni Book Award.
