The Town of Appomattox Downtown Revitalization Committee met last Wednesday to hear a presentation of branding concepts by David Mikula, president and co-founder of Mikula|Harris Branding, an advertising and design firm.

Mikula presented a summary of the three-phase process addressing the branding of the Town of Appomattox and the tourism and economic development possibilities.

The first phase included discovery, which allowed for resident surveys and interviews, in-person site visits, and online research of the town’s history and tourism assets. In this discovery phase, they found the town’s residents truly care about each other, they love their mom-and-pop style shops and accessibility via walking or by bike. One resident had offered their thoughts about the revitalization to the online survey, “The town needs a purpose. Something to rally around.”
