On Monday evening, September 14, 2020, the new American Civil War Museum (ACWM) celebrated its First Anniversary Celebration via a virtual forum on the museum’s website. The event was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The American Civil War Museum has two locations in Richmond — Historic Tredegar and the White House of the Confederacy, and a third location in Appomattox.
The original ACWM was founded in 2013 through a merger of the Museum of the Confederacy and American Civil War Center. The new Richmond facility was built around the ruins of the original Tredegar Iron Works and opened in May of 2019.
