Longtime ACPS finance & human resource director McMillan retires

Bruce McMillan, longtime director of finance and human resources at Appomattox County Public Schools (ACPS), announced his retirement from the position after working 14 years for the school district. He was recognized at the Dec. 16 meeting of the Appomattox County School Board.

McMillan’s last day will be Jan. 7, but he is making himself available to assist the school district during the upcoming spring semester by phone, video chat or other methods of communication.

Two recent retirees from other school systems will be temporarily filling McMillan’s role. They are Maria Gee, who retired as the human resources director for Lynchburg City Schools, and Cindy Wahrman, who retired as the finance director in Prince Edward County Public Schools. They will be working two or three days per week from January through June.
