Henry Clay Turnes and Louisa Watts Rosser family reunion 1910, Appomattox County. This photograph includes their nine children, their spouses and grandchildren during the time when they were building the community of Appomattox County. Second row: Tom, Jennings, Sallie Turnes (holding Vera), Bill, Mable, Lucy, Errod and Walter Conner; Shirley Bryant, Walter, Nona Turnes (holding Lovelene) and Mary Lou Bryant; Robert Turnes, Wave Turnes (children of Wirt and Bettie Bryant Turnes). Third row: Walker, Ola Turnes, Lougenia, Gladys and Earle Patteson; Wirt Henry Turnes and Bettie Bryant Turnes (holding Wirt Henry Turnes, Jr.). Fourth row: Peter, Allie Rosser Turnes, Evie, Louis, Willie, Georgia, and Ruth Shepherd. Fifth row: William Leslie Turnes, Girta (holding Polly), Alma, Lave, Edna, Ora, and Reva Turnes. Louisa Watts Rosser Turnes (deceased 1905) is not pictured. Note: Henry Clay Turnes served in the 2nd Virginia Calvary, Company H, and was WIA (wounded in action). Surrendered at Appomattox County Courthouse in Appomattox County on April 9, 1865. Henry Clay Turnes and Louisa Watts Rosser were included in the families of the community who founded the Hollywood Baptist Church in Appomattox County in Oct. 1878.
