Goodbye May, Hello June! June is named after the Roman goddess Juneo, patroness of marriage and the well-being of women. It also comes from the Latin word juvenis meaning "young people." June’s birthstone is the pearl, and June’s flower is the rose. Some of the observances in June are: Adopt A Shelter Cat Month, African-American Music Appreciation Month, Audiobook Appreciation Month, Dairy Month, LGBTQ+ Month, National Camping Month, National Rose Month, and National Zoo and Aquarium Month, just to name a few! Come celebrate the month of June at your local library, the J. Robert Jamerson Memorial Library.
The library acknowledged EMS week by featuring the book “There is a First Responder in my Family” written by Donna Miele. Our very own Library Fairy turned in her wings for her EMS uniform, as she is a volunteer for the local rescue squad. The kids created their own rescue sticker scenes, the library served refreshments, and put the outside toys in Abbitt Park for everyone to enjoy.
