Citizens organize to assist needy in county

An Appomattox County citizens committee was formed for the purpose of assisting those in the county who truly are in need of adequate heat via fuel or firewood. Permission was received by Mr. and Mrs. J.L Jones to use the old sawmill site on Lee-Grant Avenue as a storage and distribution yard for firewood.

Eleventh child honored on birthday

Clement R. Woodall of Lynchburg, an Appomattox native, celebrated his 65th birthday. He was the 11th child of his parents, born on the 11th month, 11th day, 11th hour and 11th minute.

Pamplin gets deed to depot

The Pamplin Depot, once a major stopping point for railroad passengers, officially belongs to the Town of Pamplin after a deal with Norfolk Southern that gives the town possession of the depot in exchange for a small parcel of land on business Route 460.
