As the Page Turns

November comes from the Latin word Novem "nine" because this had been the ninth month in the early Roman calendar. Although it's our11th month, the name never got changed. The birthstone is the yellow topaz, and the flower is the chrysanthemum. Some of November’s observations are: Adopt A Senior Pet Month, Banana Pudding Lovers Month, Family Stories Month, National Peanut Butter Lovers, Picture Book Month, Dear Santa Letter Week: 7-13, National Young Readers Week: 15-19, All Saints' Day: 1, Election Day: 5, Veteran's Day: 11, National Peanut Butter Fudge Day: 20, and Small Business Saturday: 30.

November is the month of being grateful and there is something “fishy” going on at the library. There is a school of grateful fish swimming around the circulation desk. If you ask, a staff member will be happy to share a “fish” with you. These fish bubbles are our way of showing how we are grateful to have such wonderful patrons. It is one fish per person while supplies last.

We would like to remind parents and guardians that there is an unattended child policy at the library. If those you are responsible for are under the age of 13, they must be accompanied by an adult (18+). To make use of the library’s computers and internet patrons, 12 years of age and under must have adult supervision. Patrons 13 to 17 years of age must have a library card with parental guardian permission signed in advance.
