Funds approved for Title VI-B school project
The Appomattox County Public Schools were notified of the approval of their project application for Title VI-B Flow Through Funds in the amount of $40,260. These federal funds are allocated annually to provide special education services to unserved or underserved handicapped individuals ages two to 21.

Bragg inducted into state hall of fame
Former Appomattox Raiders football and basketball coach Gordon Bragg was inducted into the Virginia High School Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in athletics and community service.

New Christian radio station in town
Appomattox’s new Christian radio station WWAR 1280 AM went on the air with a Gospel music format. The staff is entirely made up of volunteers, and the manager is Chris Pennix.
Residents invaded by ladybugs
Swarms of black-and-orange ladybugs invaded Appomattox over the weekend, blanketing houses and causing an uproar from homeowners. The ladybugs swarmed most of Appomattox County, reaching as far as Bent Creek, Spout Spring and Pamplin.
