The Appomattox Raiders played their last regular season football game at home on Friday night, and it was also Senior and Military Appreciation Night. Appomattox won over Dan River 57 to 18.
Appomattox will host Chatham on Friday night in the first round of the Region 2C playoffs at 7 p.m. The Raiders finished the regular season 5-5, winning their final four games.
Raiders head coach Doug Smith said the team played better that what he thought they would coming off the bye week.
“The defense tackled better this week,” Smith said. “The special teams covered well and got a bunt block for a touchdown. The kickoff return team returned a kick for an 85-yard touchdown. The offense scored just about every series we got the ball.”
