For the second consecutive year, Appomattox Raiders varsity boys basketball player Tyler Gilliam has been named to the VHSL Class 2 All-State Basketball Team.
Last week the VHSL (Virginia High School League) revealed its 2019-20 All-State players with Gilliam listed on the Second Team.
Gilliam — who has given Raider fans more than their money’s worth for the price of admission — remains grateful and humble about being recognized as an All-State player by the VHSL decision makers.
“Being named an All- State player the last two seasons is truly a blessing, and having this to show for all the hard work that I put into the game,” Gilliam said. “I am thankful for my parents, coaches, and most importantly, Jesus Christ.
Appomattox Head Coach Travis Cottrell had high praise for Gilliam, whom he describes as being “one of the most talented players that I’ve coached since I’ve been in Appomattox ... "
