Raiders football back in a winning groove

The Appomattox Raiders and Altavista Colonels engaged in their own version of Monday Night Football at Bragg Stadium, with the Raiders coming out on top in a 48-7 win.

Appomattox has won two straight Dogwood District games, upping their record to 3-3 after beginning the season 1-3 outside of the district.

Altavista fell to 0-6 overall.

The game was played Monday night instead of the traditional Friday because of inclement weather conditions brought on by remnants of Hurricane Ida that struck Florida and other parts of the East Coast.

As a result, the annual Homecoming game has been rescheduled to Oct. 14 when the Raiders host Nelson County.
