Down 5-0 to the Chatham Cavaliers after the top of the second inning Wednesday, the Appomattox Raiders found themselves in unfamiliar territory facing their largest deficit of 2022. However, the Raiders rallied to tie the score with a five-run bottom of the second, and hung on to win 7-6 to remain atop the Dogwood District standings.

Trey Shrock drove in the winning run for Appomattox with a triple in the bottom of the third inning that brought Jake Maner across home plate. Neither team would score for the remainder of the game.

Appomattox is undefeated with an overall record of 13-0, 8-0 in the Dogwood. Chatham drops to 11-5, 6-2 in the Dogwood.
