Just two years after the conclusion of World War II, a man named Richard Dale Robinson came to Appomattox from Warrenton in 1947 and purchased a combination furniture store and funeral home on Main Street from J.C. Hudgins.

In those days, coffins were often made or sold at furniture stores, so many stores expanded into the funeral or embalming business in a different part of the building.

In 1956, Robinson bought a piece of land on Court Street that would become the current location of Robinson’s Funeral Home. Since that time, the funeral home has been expanded three times and is now owned by Richard’s grandson, Kinckle Robinson. Kinckle’s father, Richard Donald Robinson, remains a retired part-owner after taking over the business from his father.
