Congressman Denver Riggleman visited with high schoolers from Appomattox County and the surrounding areas who were participating in Bank Day last Wednesday at The Farmers Bank of Appomattox.

These students — 15 out of hundreds across the state — were participating in the Virginia Banker Association (VBA) Bank Day Scholarship Program. The scholarship is sponsored by the VBA Education Foundation and the VBA Emerging Bank Leaders.

To participate, students spent the day shadowing bank personnel and learning about the various behind the scenes facets of a community bank. These students would then be required to write an essay based on what they’ve experienced and learned throughout the day.
