On June 13, five of the former racehorses at War Horses at Rose Bower began slowly having their daily rations changed over to either Purina’s Impact Professional Performance Horse Feed or Ultium Gastric Care Formula as part of a 90-day feed trial conducted by Purina.
War Horses at Rose Bower is a Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA) accredited retirement program which rehabilitates and finds new careers for older racehorses and is located in Appomattox.
War Horses at Rose Bower’s President and Founder Barbara Luna, Farmville Farmer’s Cooperative Equine Specialist KC Meadows and Purina Sales Specialist Eric Shupe spent a recent morning evaluating the five OTTBs chosen for the trial which range in age from 10-to-20-years-old. They are Writingonthewall, Bernie the Maestro, Banjo Picker, Old Upstart and Helicopter.
