Robert Earl Pankey

Robert Earl Pankey, 80, of Walnut Circle, Appomattox, died Friday, December 14, 2018 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Donna Allen Pankey.

Born in Lynchburg, Va., on July 16, 1938, he was a son of the late Naomi Cobb and Everett Leonard Pankey. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. Robert was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a retired photographer for Babcock and Wilcox and also owned his own local photography business. Robert spent many years running every road in Appomattox County. During retirement, Robert and Donna traveled to all 50 states, Canada, and Mexico.

Robert is survived by two step-children, Mark Scott and wife, Cathy of Amherst and Dawn S. Utz and husband, Troy of Forest; a sister, Sandra Knight of Staunton; three granddaughters, Ashley Dawn Scott, Danielle Brooke Utz, Kacie Morgan Utz; and two step-grandchildren, Meagan Utz and Joshua Utz.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Monday, December 17, 2018, at Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Russell Cheatham. Burial followed at Liberty Cemetery.

The family received friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
